Building on research done by Dr. Kate Grantham and Dr. Leva Rouhani (also our hosts), the Study Group Sessions podcast series examines contemporary issues, innovations, and challenges related to education research. Each episode puts the Global Partnership for Education’s KIX grantees in conversation with one another to discuss a different aspect of gender equality in education research.
The goal of the series was to bring the experiences of local teams to forefront of knowledge translation, creating connections between approaches from educators around the world. It was important to capture the spark and vibrancy of the sort of research conversations that our hosts are so used to having with one another, to create discussions that are both interesting and valuable for other researchers to hear.
Anti-Heroine Media was on board from the start, working with the team to develop the unique creative concept and branding for the podcast. We ultimately landed on Study Group Sessions, a title that plays on the concept of working together in an educational setting, bridging the subject matter with a format that feels fresh and relatable for listeners. The catchy and playful tone matches the conversational style of the podcast and invites the listener in for communal learning and collaboration.
Once the creative concept was established, Anti-Heroine Media developed the brand identity for the podcast, including the show’s title, tagline, description and logo. We worked with the team to flesh out episode scripts, provided input of the series’ narrative arc, and coordinate with guests ahead of the production process.
We directed each recoding session to ensure the best audio quality possible, with guests logging on from around the world. Anti-Heroine Media edited the raw recordings for each podcast episode to balance audio levels, remove blips or errors, and add in recurring pieces and music. We foregrounded accessbility by providing transcripts and captioning each episode, creating audiograms for folks with hearing impairments.
Using clips from the final products, we also created a punchy teaser trailer to help promote the series with potential listeners. Anti-Heroine Media took on the distribution process and created promotional graphics for use on social media. The series has been downloaded over 170+ times, putting it in the top 50% of podcasts in an increasingly saturated market.
